  1. I was wondering if anyone knew a dvd player that can play divx movies opposed to vcd movies...

    If you are referring to files encoded in the divx codec then there are no hardware players of any kind which can play these.

    But just to let u know, the chip needed to decode MPEG 4 on set tops is made.

    Yes that's true Greg12 but divx and mpeg4 arent synonomous.

  6. I remember a few years ago, when Circuit city was selling Divx hardware players, and software movie titles.
    They flopped. Probably, because they required a payment every time you wanted to watch a movie that you already paid for. The whole deal seemed shady, but if someone had that player, wouldn't it play homemade Divx movies?

  7. The Divx that was pushed by Circuit City is an entirely different thing than the Divx that refers to the hacked MPEG4 codec. It was really just a modified form of DVD, I believe.

  8. At the time of this writing there is no DVD player in existence that is able to play DIVx movies. FULL STOP.
