I believe the newest athlon 64 is the 3000+ -
Wouldn't this one be better than a 3000+
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Clawhammer Processor
2.2GHz, 1MB, 800MHz FSB, Socket 754
Or this one, but it has less cache than the Clawhammer
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Newcastle Processor
2.4GHz, 512kB, 1600MHz HTT, Socket 754 -
From my understanding, the clawhammer became the Opteron processor which is usually used in servers and is way more expensive.
The athlon643000+ is basically an fx chip that has been dumbed down a little.
The major difference is price

the prices I came across were not that bad
3000+ $160
3400+ newcastle $233
3400+ clawhammer $238 -
About how fast of a processor do you need to do video capture anyway?
