  1. Ok, I know this player is old but it runs all the original DVDs without a hiccup.
Recently I purchased a DVD burner. I backed up a DVD onto my hard-drive and then onto a DVD-r disc. Burning went flawlessly...my DVD burner played the movie back just fine...menus also worked great.
But when I tried playing the movie on me standalone DVD player the movie started to skip at the end. The menus were shady as they started skipping to in the beginning. The movie itself plays fine in the middle...it's at the end that it starts messing up. This skipping does not happen on the PC.
I closed the session within the burning software also.
Is this a media issue? Burner issue or is it that the DVD player is old?
I used Optodisc DVD-r to test it out.

  2. first of all I would try several different types of media, I also have an old player, sony dvp-s330 and it will play dvd-r. How are you backing up dvd decryptor and dvd to one? and what program are you using to burn with, nero works flawlessly for me. good luck.

What brand of media are you using with your DVD player?

  4. Sounds like a media problem. I have used opto disc before. There are some player that are not compatible with optodisc. I would try ritek. I found these disc to be the best in quality and compatibility as well. You might want to try to use Clonedvd because on some player nero has some complaince issue with its engine.

    Hope this help.

I have used RecordNow DX thus far...should I be looking at an alternative burning software? Thank you jebus for store return policies.

  6. Ok...tonight I went to my buddy's house and tested the same DVD on his couple of month old Sony DVD player. It played the DVD-r flawlessly...atleast I know the DVD burner is okay.
I guess it's time to look for a new DVD player soon.

  7. Ok here's an update...
I burned a movie using Nero 6 on a Maxell 4x DVD+R media and this thing runs flawless on a DVP-S500. The menus / end all worked and looked awesome. I would also like to mention that RecordNow DX, although a very nice looking program, wasn't allowing me to record on a Maxell 4x DVD+R. It was telling me that it was a bad disc or something of that nature with two different discs. So I tried Nero 6 and it burned it like it owned it's arse.

  8. I own a Sony DVP NS-325 and I've had some trouble with DVD-R as well. The disc plays fine at the beggining (FBI warning, Menus, etc...), but when the movie starts, it skips in a very strange way. It doesn´t seem like a reading problem, since it skips in 10 minutes intervals, making the movie extremely short. It is very strange, and it happens every once in a while, with different different discs. In other stand alone dvd players, the same discs play fine.
