first of all, does all PS cds work on PS 1? and do I need to buy those special PS cdrs to burn working PS cds? cuz i burned Tony Hawk's pro-skater 1 on a regular cd-r and it worked on my friend's PS, but it don't work on my PS one. is it because her PS does not recognize it as CD-R or mine's just don't support CD-R? would it work if I bought one of those PS cdr? or is it just that Tony Hawk don't work on PS ones? plz help

oh and, if not all PS cds work on PS 1, is there any special settings u can make on a burning software to make it work?
-
Yes any Playstation cd will work on the PS1 but there is a catch you need a mod-chip or a boot-dics like PS-X-Change and all your copyed(must be back-up or it is illegal)PSX game will work on your PS1

This is a vcdhelp forum not psx pirating forum.. a little off topic i think, and you are an idiot

Err hello, wakey wakey. This is off topic forum. Which means that unfortunately even abusive idiots like you, have the right to make comments about what you may or may not consider relevant.

1) This is an Off Topic forum.
2) If you read other posts in the forums, a lot of them are about illegal copying... sorry - "making backups". It is not a DVD pirating forum either, but a shit load of questions get asked about it.
3) Here is the description of the Off Topic forum:
"Discuss 'almost' about whatever you want here. But NO REQUESTS for movies, applications, serials or cracks and NO crap posts please, such posts will be removed."
Read it and weep wise ass.

you need special cds to burn to... cds for this cost about $60 dollars each..hopefully they will go down in price within the next 20-30 years..good luck!
actually.. check out gamecopyworld.com and go to the psxcopyworld and read up..
you do need a modchip on any system newer then and including SCPH-9001 and psone but anything older 1001,5001,5501,7001,7501 will allow a plugin card to allow you to boot off a real disk.

Mod chips are very easy to fit if you can use a soldering iron well. The newer models (900x -> PSONE) require a bit more skill, but can still be done all the same. Some older Playstations may have trouble with lame media (probably why you found a CDR to work on one PS and not another), so be sure to use a reputable brand if you plan to copy PS disks. Verbatim (Data Life Plus) are excellent in Playstations. Also, use a decent CD cloning utility like CloneCD or Blind-Read/Write.

jasond, I believe you are referring to what are essentially dev disks which contain the bad sectors that the ps checks for. With these you could simply burn the game to the disk and it would load like any other legit game. But like you said the price makes them pretty useless. You do not need these disks to play backups however as long as you have a mod chip, game enhancer, or boot disk.
Your right anything higher than the 9001 series requires a mod chip but the ps-x-changer boot disk will work on all series of playstation. -
Hmmm...
I am real low on money right now, but I am going to buy a Playstation 1 or Playstation 2. I can't decide! The factors that are making me lean twards a PSOne are these:
PSXChanger works
Tons of games to pick from
Half the damn price
I know someone who can get me mad games
PS2 reasons:
The next gen system
Will be supported for years to come
Plays just about every PSOne game
All peripherals are interchangable w/ PSOne peripherals
Games look better, but that doesn't matter, because arrows that scroll up will look the same no matter if they are on a PSOne or one of NASA's super duper space imaging computers
And the reason why I would even consider a PSOne or PS2 over a GameCube or Xbox is that KONAMI's Bemani series is only on Playstation...
Plus, I am really all set with consoles... I have given up enough money to the game companies over the past decade and a half to buy me a hybrid car! So if I get another system after my DC, it will have to be one with which I can get games at a super-low cost ($12 for 50 pack of Memorex 80 Minute) as easily as I can for my DC.
So what do you guys think? Should I wait longer and save up for a PS2, which should be cheaper right at holiday season or right after it, or should I just get a PSOne now and play DDR until I collapse right now? Hmmm...

i suggest you get a PSONE or better yet the original PSX becuase you can get *wink* new games every week*wink*
-
Id get a PS2 because you can aquire games (cough *download* cough*) and burn em to cd and play em on the ps2 without the need of a mod chip ( SPECIAL STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN,SHOULDNT TAKE MORE THAN 2 MINUTES ONE TIME JOB)Also the support of ps1 games leaves no reason why you should even be looking back at the ps1.Download,patch,burn,play.

PS2 adds a DVD player and faster load times on PS1 games.
Also, PS2 does not have over hearting troubles. -
Hmmm... alright. Then it is settled. I will wait and save up for a PS2. So Daniel, don't hurry too much witht hose gam... uh, I didn't say anything!

I have PS2. I added MOD chip on PS2 my self. I have more than 50 PSone games. All are backups on STI cd (almost i paid 5 cents per CD. Till I have more than 700 CDS. I have to thank Circuit city for full rebate). Works perfectly on PS2. No swap. Just like original, PS2 plays backup CDs.
