The rate is around 4 to 5 cents per kilowatt hour and my power supply is 420 watt. Let's say I use it for 10 hours a day. Does it use less power if you just have the pc running but the monitor off? I'm trying to figure up how much it costs a day to run my pc for 10 hours with the monitor off .

Your power supply rating doesn't tell you how much power it uses steady-state ...only what its maximum is. The real amount will be less. Way less

Figure 50 watts ballpark for the CPU, another 50 for cards and drives. 100 watts will probably be closer to the real number.

So, 0.1KW for 10 hours is one kilowatt-hour. It costs 4 or 5 cents a day for you
