I have large (gb) video files on a uni computer and need to get them transferred to another computer. I was thinking of using msn to send the files but i would have to click on 1 file at a time (because msn doesn't all to send folders) and send, which would take ages. I need a program similar to zip that grabs all the files but i don't really want it compressed. Does anyone know of a simple program which doesn't compress the content.
I can't use a cd-r because the computer doesn’t have one.
I didn't really know where to put this so sorry. Thanks for any help.![]()

Hello,
Does it have usb?? You could use a usb flash drive. I think they go up to at least 512mb and are the size of keychains.

It has a usb but that would still take some times and i would have to b there. Does anyone know of a program like zip that can group that files and keep the structure (like a folder does)?

The files are already fairly small and i can transfer them 1 at a time. But i don't want to deal with them 1 at a time.
Just need a program that will group them and has an extention like .zip .rar but which doesn't compress them. Like a folder with an extention so msn will read it as a file. -
tar:

But what's wrong with compressing? -
store mode in winrar. Dont compress.
zip would be the fav as windows has built in support for unziping now. So the other end dont need winzip or such. Not bothered by small problems...

I appreachate the help but i can't get it to work. Is there anything else?
Two reasons i don't want to use zip/rar.
1) The zip only zips 1gb or something and isn't enough for my needs. rar takes hours.
2) i'm zipping movies and when rar does finish it compresses it so much (around 50%) i'm worried about the files being curropted.
But (1) is my main worry.
so is there anything else? -
Windows' Zip utility does seem to have a 4GB limit. I tried WinRar v3.2 with 5 GB of AVI files in "store" mode. It went pretty quickly, the Rar file was over 5 GB, and the files extracted and played OK.

No way you could add a external writer then ?Not bothered by small problems...
