Single layer DVD-R's with 7.82GB nominal capacity??

Hi there,

I've tried to burn 2 new DVD-R's media with my Liteon 851S and they won't play afterwards in my player nor in my drive.

These are Ridisc with Ritek G04 dye and Princo with Princo code. They are not even recognized by DVD Info Pro and DVD Speed (seem to be blank) but the strange thing is that, according to Smartburn tool from Liteon, they have both a nominal capacity of 7.82GB!!

See for yourself:
Drive Type = DVD DUAL
Disc Type = DVD-R (Single Layer)
Disc MID = 52 49 54 45 4B 47 (RITEKG)
Disc TID = 30 34 00 00 00 00 (04....)
Nominal Capacity = 7.82GB
Manufacturer Maybe = RiTEK Corporation
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 4.0X (Write)

Can someone explain how it comes?? Usually the capacity should be 4.7 (4.38) GB, shouldn't it?

They appear to be unformatted.
How can I do to format/finalize them??

Something's wrong. That capacity is dual-layer only ...not single layer. So either they're dual and the type (DVD-R SL) is wrong, or they're single and the capacity is reading wrong. Another error is that there is no such thing as DVD-R dual layer yet.

Try burning one at >SL capacity and find out
