  1. Help!!!

I have a Pioneer 107D. This worked well at burn speeds of up to 8x on my Pentium 3 600mhz computer. I managed to swop this for a Pentium 3, 1 Gig computer but using my same Pioneer writer.

For some reason, none of the discs will now write at 8x, even though I am using a faster machine. In fact, it is taking over 30 minutes to burn a single disc. I have checked my cables and I am definately using Ultra ATA 60/100 cables from the writer to the motherboard. I have tried to enable DMA for this writer but that function no longer appears on this Pentium 3, 1 Gig machine?? (using Windows 98>Control Panel>System>CD ROM>Pioneer 107>Settings.)

I am out of ideas - can anyone help?? Thanks

    Search Comp PM
Try going into Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE/ATAPI Controllers>Primary(and Secondary)IDE Channel>Advanced Options and make sure it's not set for "PIO Transfer". It should be UltraDMA. If it isn't you may need to change the MB IDE driver.
