  3. By using DVD2SVCD you have encoded the file to SVCD, which is not DVD compliant. Use the original DVD file to burn onto a DVD-R.

The original dvd file what? by the way, is it possible to change the res of the svcd mpeg movie to the dvd res. without changing its bitrage and still be recognized as dvd complaint on all dvd players including ps2?

That will never happen no matter what you do. There will always be a player or two that won't play your DVD.
Try SVCD2DVDMPG with your mpegs, then try to author again. Or do as the "error" message says - start a new project in cDVD mode!

Use dvd2svcd again but this time click on the frameserver tab and choose resize to cvd(352x480/576).This will make it dvd compliant or choose dvd output file type in the misc tab next time you encode.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Not true. You can select DVD as the input file type and output file type in the Misc tab of DVD2SVCD.

I never saw any use for that option and never tried it but it's there.

    @ccencoder,

What was the source of your .MPG and what did you want to change?

It was TITLE1 of the DVD lenght was 1hour, I edit it, mostly cutted and joined; then wanted to reauthor it, and burn it to cd-r, the video was originally on a dvd-r. I only want to use cds; and that will play on all dvd players, (this is for clients so max compatibility is required). I remember burning a svcd on a cd and it played on my dvd player, and on the same dvd player, I tried burning dvd content on a cd and it didn't work, so I got the impression that dvd doesn't play on cds but svcd does, but if vcd is much more compatible like a dvd is, then I'll go for vcd if you want.

A DVD is the most compatible format for playback on stand alone DVD players, no doubt about that. VCD comes in second, followed by SVCD. DVD on CD (a.k.a. miniDVD) is rarely supported.
But to tell you the truth, you're not making much sense at all; in your first post, youre saying that you want to "reburn into DVD", then you ask how to change "the res of the SVCD mpeg movie to DVD res", and now you "only want to use cds" and ask about VCD?
Back up a little, and tell us what you got, and what you want to achieve.

    @ CCEncoder,

I use DVDit 2.5 and find this guide useful. Stick to DVD (PAL or NSTC) specs.

    1) The first part of my explaining about burning into a dvd is wrong! I only want to use cds as SVCD worked in the past so I have faith on cds besides I ain't got DVD burner.
    2) I said I wanted to convert svcd into dvd, because I thought I could burn the svcd 480x480 into a form of DVD movie, now I know I have to change the res too which willl increase the file size making it impossible to fit it on CD, probably bitrate tricks will work but I need more advice.

    3) Now I ask for vcd because I discovered it is much more compatible as VCD then SVCD and after all the video won't degrade at all since the svcd res is only enhanced and not optical.

Conclusion: I would like to burn this as DVD but on CD, now if it is not compatible then I'll try VCD, instead of going from dvd to svcd and then changing headers to vcd, I'll just make dvd to vcd and period. but I would like max compatibility for dvd players using CDS.

  13. So you've come full circle now ... use DVD2SVCD to create VCDs.

Tried that and the final mpg wasn't recognizerd by "DVDit!" as either NTSC or PAL!
