    This is weird.
My pioneer 108 is burning TY01 (-R 4x) with superb results. However, in my brother's Samsung stand alone dvd player, they all (I've tried 3 different samples) start to freeze after 8 or 10 minutes of normal playing, other than that, they play perfectly well in other players.

What's bugging me is that the same files burned on ritek G04 (-R 4x) will play very well on this player.
When I test these ritek, they are ok, but never as good as the TY01.
I did PI/PIF test, data transfer test (read), and surface scan. The TY01 are just great.

Why would it stop/freeze after ten minutes with the TY and not with the G04?
Is there anything I can do to make my TY more compatible with my bro's DVD player ?
I can burn with Nero or decrypter

btw, this stupid player is supposed to read -R and it was able to read the worst burned G04.

    Thanks

Hmm.... I also have a newer Samsung (low profile silver unit) and it plays anything I throw at it.... including some Maxell TY01's.... Are they copies of existing DVD' or MPEG's you created (home movies)?

    Dr. Dos

My trials were done with DVD movie backup.

Backups tell me that the audio is probably AC3 which is quite compatible (vs MPEG thay you may have created via home movies ... which slightly less compatible)

    Mine is a DVD-P241

Run your recorded DVD thru CDSpeed or DVDInfo Pro... both will scan the discs for errors

  5. To say Samsung equipment is problem plagued is an understatement. Different players can vary widely even within the same brand or model, could be out of specs.
