  1. I've gotten a windows port of mplayer to almost play the new Quicktime 7.0 with h.264 on a windows PC (apple has chosen to delay the 7.0 release for windows).

The problem is it "smears" the bottom on non I-frames, only keyframes show properly.

Can anyone figure out why and perhaps point me to a better h.264 codec that won't do the smears?

Here is the sample video I am using to test:

(there is a download link on the right)

Thanks for any help, I know its a very advanced/obscure issue.

Plays the same here and that is with current cvs libavcodec and mplayer.

mplayer has supported h.264 playback for quite some time, however libavcodec's h.264 decoder is not complete. Could also be an issue with the mov container.

You could try Nero's decoder or moonlight's. Once again though there could be issues with the mov parser.

Problem is fixed now. Well at least I tried that sample and it now works fine.. no more smears.
