  1. I have ordered an HP Pavilion a450n P4 3.0E GHz, 512MB PC-3200 DDR RAM, 160GB 7,200rpm Ultra DMA Hard Drive-4xDVD burner, nVidia 5200 card.

Is anyone on these forums using this off-the-shelf computer for video apps like editing and recording programs off cable TV?

HP 450 owners - how has it been working out for you?

  2. i just bought a HP a520n and managed to get one DVD burned. the one working dvd turned out great (1:15 minute concert). but i have since had three failures with a concert (1:55 minutes in length). i used TMPEGNC DVD Author which seemed great and was really easy to use. Now my DVD writer/drive (HP 400c) does not even recognize anything i put in it. i will be exchanging it.

  3. The HP a450n is working like a champ.

I have burned several single layer DVDs - up to 40 minutes in length - home movies and vacation stuff edited in Sony Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0...

Used Sonic My DVD Deluxe 5.2 to create the DVDs on both DVD+R and DVD+RW. Results were excellent . Takes quite a while to transcode from the AVI files. No technical issues. DVDs play on 3 different standalone players I have tried.

    Audio sync was perfect throughout.

I purhcased that computer a little while ago. The only complaints I had were the floppy drive and rear audio port died.
