    Hello,

Yep. Though some cards have "frame dropping" issues. That effects the quality. I have a wintv pvr 250 that doesn't do it.

Use high quality cables for such a distance. It can degrade.

Edit - what type of capture card do you have??? More info on it can be found here:

Due the large distance, you could also consider an external DV converter, like an ADS PYRO A/V Link, a firewire card in your PC and a long firewire cable to connect the DV converter and your PC.

Connect your VHS analog out to the analog in of the PYRO A/V Link. This little box will digitalize your video and it will send it to your PC through the firewire interface. This setup will allow long cable runs without video degradation.

    But…

The ADS PYRO A/V Link Link must have firmware version 3.0, otherwise you will get many dropped frames.
Most DV converters cost lots of $$$.
Each hour of video will need around 13 GB of disk space.
Use WinDV to capture the video and Adobe and Nero to edit and burn.

  4. Moving the VCR closer to the PC would be far better than running cables that far. A decent set of cables to run that far will cost as much as a new VCR would.

$49.95 or less for a cheap VHS Player
$49.95 or more for a Analog to MPEG capture product (card or USB or Fwire capture device)

For quality VHS dubs, I use a well tuned S-VHS deck and the S-video connector. VHS (and S-VHS) is recorded in a manner that separates the luminance and chrominance information on the tape. S-video connection keeps them separate up to the A/D capture process for a higher quality MPeg2 encode.
