  1. I installed the latest ATI MMC software but I have no option at all for video capture. I also see many of you discussing "Videosoap" and I have nothing regarding that either. It did install some media players but I only need the video capture and it isn't there. I have an ECS Radeon 9200 w/VIVO. Would it make a difference if the card isn't the actual ATI brand? The card did not come with the ATI MMC software, I am using a download from ati.com. I can not get the card to capture with any software at all.

Have you installed the WDM drivers? They are seperate from the video drivers.

Edit: Scratch that....wrong manufacturer , I believe they are included in MMC.

Try this site.... www.digitalfaq.com step by step on hoew to use MMC. It's for the AIW but it should be the same or nearly the same for the VIVO.

  4. Go back to ATI's website and make sure to get the latest DAO/MDAC download, it should be listed with the driver and multimedia center downloads.

  5. For a complete, step by step guide for installation and removal of ATI drivers and software, go to rage3d.com. There are 3 distinct components to the ATI software (drivers, control panel, and MMC) and they must be installed in a particular order. Often the problem may lie in rebooting, or not, between steps. I have not seen any info this detailed on smurf's site, digitalfaq.com.

Video soap is a component of MMC, in fact just a filter setting in the capture component.

  6. I have an older AIW 128 card but the only version of MMC I have been able to get installed is 7.2.

Am I doing something wrong on the install? Or are any versions above 7.2 non functional with my card?

Am I stuck with MMC 7.2 and the limited resolutions it provides?

  8. Khaymen, I had two different AIW 128 cards and was able to get 7.6 running with no problems. Had to update drivers, but that is normal, anyway. I'm pretty sure I had 7.7 running, as well, but could not get 8.1 installed and capturing. I know 48 K audio was on, not sure which version that started with.

There was significant improvement over 7.2. See my earlier post for info on ATI software installation.

I have nothing helpful to add, but of all the love-hate relationships I have ever had, MMC is perhaps the most intense..

This is how I found out that I was a masochist. Ooow baby hurt me some more! MMC is a big tease. And I am a junkie too because I don't want to quit. I'm sick and need help.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

As smurf told ya - your card is too old.
Anything older than Radeon 7200 can't use MMC past version 7.7 (and yes - it has 48k sound). It still does very good captures if combined with some 1.5GHz CPU...
