Anyone have experiences with Canon Digital Camera A75 or Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W1? I'm looking for a replacement for my old Sony Mavica Floppy Digital Camera. Yes, I still have a Mavica! It still works but I'd like to have a digital camera that's not so BULKY! The Canon is only 3.2 mp and the Sony is a 5 mp. Is it worth getting a 5 mp digital camera versus a 3.2 mp? I'd appreciate any feedback or advice. Thanks in advance.

    A 3.2 mp camera will print a decent 8x10 a 5.2 will print a great 8x10.

  3. I own a Canon PowerShot A60 (2MP) and it takes some very nice, clear shots. My father owns a PowerShot G3 (4MP) and it takes beautiful pictures. The Canon has a lot of flexibility and expert features for the advanced photographer. I use the green "AUTO" setting...

These links may help you to choose! I have no experience whatsoever with Sony cameras so I can't pass any judgement on them nor compare the two. All I can say is that I am very satisfied with my Canon.

    Hope this helps a bit,

  4. The Canon A75 is a workhorse and is a great camera. I can't comment on the Sony.

One thing to consider, however, is that the Canon may be more convenient in terms of accesories. Unless I'm mistaken, it uses AA batteries and CF. Sony digicams only accept the (IMHO greatly inferior and more expensive) Memory Stick format.

    Regards.

    Cannon, best picture by far.

Go up to CNet and see what people have said about the models you are considering.

Thanks for the replies and advice. Can anyone suggest a good brand of compact flash for the Canon A75? Is Sandisk or Kingston good brands? I'll be ordering the Canon from Newegg.

I have both.... they are both very reliable.

Save your batteries and spend the $10.00 and get a dedicated USB card reader. They are much faster. Also, for may laptop here at work I bought a PCI card reader that my flash slides into. That also has been a sweet add-on

Also, if your cannon runs on reg batteries buy a set of NiMh and a charger (about $25.00 for both) ... that works great. I keep a reg set of batteries in my bag just in case -- But a single charge works for the duration of my days shooting.
