  1. I bought a PAL VCR and I'm having bad luck with the results.

I'm taking the VCR's output into the CT2 (which supposedly automatically detects whether it's PAL or NTSC).....set the CT2 output switch to NTSC and then going to the input on my Panasonic DMR-E50.

I'm monitoring on an NTSC TV connected to the DMR-E50.

It's almost like the CT2 isn't doing anything as I have a very distorted picture on my monitor when trying to record a PAL tape.

Has anyone used this CT2 for PAL to NTSC conversion?
What do you think is going on here?

Are there maybe some unique protection techniques that are unique to PAL that the CT2 can't handle?

    THANKS for any help!

Read pg 5 bottom section n what it will NOT DO!

It can conver color encoding but not FRAME RATE1 YOU have to have a 50/60hz tv or monitor that can do BOTH in order to view.

The unit is for making stable copies of vcr or dvd source on vcr or dvd. I just bought one today and it seems to work great for its intended use, based on just a quick test.

  3. So it's really not (completely) converting PAL to NTSC?

    Everything but the frame rate?

What are my options?.......are there any US TV's that will allow 50/60 hz viewing or do I have to get a PAL TV? (I'm using a litlle 9" color portable to monitor right now).

Is there a frame rate "converter" that will give me a final disc on DVD
that is fully compatible with an NTSC TV?

    Thanks for your response.
