  1. I'm disappointed in the picture quality of this machine in playback mode from a recording made on this machine in SP mode. The picture is NOT sharp, clear and crisp. The picture lookes like it was shot thru a "fog bank" very misty. Does anyone else have the same problems?? can this be adjusted?? I have tried all of the available settings!

    Still can't beat a JVC SVHS recorder with SVHS tapes!!

    This exact Sony unit has some issues. The image quality is quite decent, but some of the newer ones have better quality. Try the JVC DR-M10S DVD recorder.

    I promise this one can give equal or better results than S-VHS (something I used for many years).

  4. I'm going to wait for the new JVC DR-MH30S when it comes out in November. The quality and features on JVC products is hard to beat. I have 2 SVHS machines which produce exceptional picture quality on playback
