  1. Hi. I'm using a Pioneer DV-350, and I'm playing back a DVD but I get no audio. The only two audio tracks on the disc are DTS tracks, so I think that's what the problem might be. I don't have the digital audio out hooked up to anything.. because I have nothing to hook it up to. Instead I just have the phono stereo out hooked up to the audio in on my midi system.

I was wondering if any of you guys knew anything about this? Should it be possible for me to get audio from a DTS audio track broadcast through the stereo out (though, obviously not in surround) so that I can hear it? Or is the simple fact that if the audio tracks are DTS, then I can't hear them unless I hook the digital audio out up to something?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me

You can only play DTS tracks through a reciever that has a DTS decoder. Is the dvd a commercial dvd? if it is, then it should have another track, either AC3 track or a stereo track. if your remote has an "audio" button on it, press it to change audio tracks.

Yes, DTS is the problem. Your player won't convert the audio into stereo like it would do for Dolby Digital.

In order to hear the DTS you must ahve a decoder, they're built into surround sound systems, as well as some receivers. Your dvd player cannot decode(encode)? the dts soundtrack.... If you don't have surround sound just use the AC3 soundtracks. I found this out when I started out. dvd wouldn't have sound when through tv, turned on surround and it was fine. DTS doesn't matter to me so I still just use the AC3 files.
