  1. I'm converting R2 PAL DVD to Region Free NTSC. My problem is MacTheRipper doesn't make a complete .VOB file. It's leaving off the last 3rd of my main feature. I'm using the Title/Chapter, choosing MF, setting begining and ending chapters to create one large .VOB to use with DVD converter. When I use Quicktime to view the created .VOB the file is 1 hour in length and it needs to be 1 1/2 hrs. I don't know why it won't complete the file.....

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try using VLC (http://www.videolan.org) to preview the file. QT often has trouble playing back the whole MPEG2 file, especially if it's >4GB.

  3. I just tried this again. The .VOB file stops at the same exact spot but the file increses in size but not in length. This happened somewhere around 4 gigs into a 5.7 gig file.

Could there be an issue with a limit to the size of a file?

It's only a problem if you try to use QuickTime to play it.

  5. I used DVD Converter on my .VOB but the resulting .m2v file wasn't as long as the main feature. So i went back to the MTR .VOB and in QT it wasn't showing the full length. When I used VLC the length was about
1/2 hour longer. I've started another DVD Converter of the .VOB

I hope it works because that's a long conversion that if it ends in nothing, really eats up time.

  6. Try to play produced .m2v in VLC also and check if the size is correct...

what it sounds like to me is that if VLC is finding the
length, and that QT is not, that the .VOB is fine.
you should test by burning the .VOB to a DVD-RW
and verifying it plays to the full length. Or
play the .VOB ( through the properly newly
authored VIDEO_TS folder) in DVD Player and see
if it plays to the end.

QT can't play any MPEG2 files >4 GB. It's as simple as that. Use VLC for your MPEG2 previewing.
