I'm using TMPGEnc for making a VCD out of the *.d2v and *.wav I extracted using DVD2AVI.exe. Now my question is: Can I enhance the volume of the audio in the finished (or in the making of...) the *.mpg (VCD) movie ?
I tried to listen to the *.wav file made by DVD2AVI and its audio is VERY low and I need to pump my speakers audio VERY high in order to hear anything... so its probably something that I did wrong with DVD2AVI .. what was it I didn't do right or should check now ?

Under TMPGEnc advanced MPEG settings: Audio effect (change volume, normalize to 100%). This scans through the audio file to determine the correct volume, so it doesn't work when frameserving from virtual dub / flask, but this should't be a problem for you as you already have your audio as a separate .wav file.

Like I also said in the first thread for this topic, it seems that the *.wav file made with DVD2AVI.exe was (when played via Winamp) with low volume, so I thing the origin of my wave file's volume problem is a misuse of DVD2AVI and I'd like someone to tell me what it might be.

  4. there are lots of ways to screw up the audio in dvd2avi. what are the properties of your source and what exact settings did you use?

The source are the *.vob files that I extracted using DVD Decrypter (I don't know how to tell you the exact properties of the source it does...). Would telling you that the *.wav file that came out of using DVD2AVI was named:
    movie AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps 48KHz.wav ?
And about the settings... which exactly do you want to know of ?

  6. is the audio track dd3/2 or dd2.0(press f5 to preview)? dolby surround downmix is inappropriate for dd2.0. select normal or light dynamic range compression dependant on your dolby hardware setup. set normalization to between 70-100 & run pre-scale decision. if you want to downsample to 44.1khz choose the high quality setting

  7. I think the simplest way is to do this back in DVD2AVI:

    1) Click on audio
    2) Choose Normalize
    3) Click the little box in the top right conner of the normalize dialog box to enable it.
    4) Choose a setting (I find that 72-75 works well).
