  1. Alright...he was online, went to a PORN site and something automatically installed itself on his PC. In the heat of the moment, as it finished installing and DID hit 100 percent installed, he hit his power switch. He turned it back on, he did a virus scan, spyware adware...all that. Came up with some stuff...but mostly nothing serious. NEXT day, it starts to load windows, comes to the log on screen...he logs on, and it logs in for a second and logs right out...back to the log on screen. He hits his roommates log on...same thing!!

    Any ideas..???

Boot into Safe Mode (hold down F8 as the machine starts) and then run an antivirus/spyware scan. Probably has a nasty trojqan or virus that runs as a service and won't let you kill it. Safe Mode bypasses start-up files, which is most likely where the virus has planted itself.

Try safe mode and make sure you aren't connected to the internet when doing it

  5. Did that...same thing!! Damn...I think it's format time!! OR....can I just pop in the windows CD and have it fix whatever may be broken...or would the format be my best bet. Actually, my friend is planning on moving back to Australia, so he just wants to get onto his PC to burn some drivers onto a disk that he had a hard time finding...then he can format back in OZ.
