Just wanted to know which DVD recorder will be the best to transfer VHS to DVD, one which has DV Link. I saw a LiteOn one for £150. For those people who has this recorder, What is it like, quality wise? i have seen that JVC is a favorite, but for £150.00 LiteOn. is it worth it for quality recording.

  2. I have seen a lot of trouble with some of the Liteon recorders and I would steer clear. It is worth the extra to go with Pioneer or Panasonic. Both have their advocates.
Still a few bugs in the system...

I use my Lite-On 5005 everyday. Had it for about 3 months now?
Everyday, not one problem. The menu is a delight compared to
    my stinky Panasonic.
I usually capture direct from TV thru a VCR, but direct playback from a
    VCR also works excellent.
    I highly recommend this unit.

Can you edit your video and menus on the PC once you recorded from your recorder. Is the recording on the Lite-on in MPEG format and have you connected it with the camcorder, If so, is it the same quality.

Yes, you can edit. Yes, all DVD is MPEG.
Quality is quite nice, but JVC is better.
I have a LiteOn 5001 myself, no complaints here.
    Also have the JVC.

Looking for Lord Smurf the wise one.
I have a 5001 and love it except I wish it had a fan. The one improvement I wish I had was the 3 hour mode but I am afraid to mess with it(hack). While looking at their site(http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/lvw_5002_5006/5002-5006_6hours.htm) I noticed that the 5002/5006 has the 3 hour mode. Why those ones and not the 5001/5005? My local Costco now has the 5005 so I could just go exchange it as they were the same price but I don't see why if the 5005 does not have the 3 hour mode either. The reason I realy want the 3 hour is for football games.
