I'm creating cd's from miniDV legal video and need some settings advice. I'm capturing with a capture software then creating the final project in Windows Movie Maker. I have to use a seperate capture software (Exsate DV Capture) as the date & time stamp must be preserved:

    1) I want the finished product to be 30 to 45 minutes or less of the highest quality video on a CD.
    2) In the least amount of time.
    3) That will be compatible with the largest amount of pc's cd drives.

What should my capture, compression and output size settings be in my capture software? (Considering I will be compiling the finished product in Windows Movie Maker.) And is my assumption that my best bet in Movie Maker and my capture software be .wmv?

I'm a bit confused about capture, compression and size. I did one project in Exsate that was .wmv. As I assumed creating the same type of clip (.wmv) that I would create with a Windows Movie Maker project would make the process faster(?). I have only three choices of output file type in Exsate- DV AVI 1& 2, AVI and ASF(.wmv). Then within ASF I have settings for:

    Mode - CBR or VBR
Codec - Which allows all the versions of WMV - I'm using version 9.
Bit rate - Default is 1500 it is adjustable though.
    Smoothness
    Buffer size
    Key frame interval
    Decoder complexity
Then I can chose to resize the video. And Interlace or Deinterlace.

If I choose AVI I have the following choices of settings:

    Compressor
    Keyframe
    Datarate
Then a list of sizes and formats like "480x480 NTSC Super video cd" etc.

Again I'm hoping to create the highest quality cd the fastest. Sitting thru two seperate rendering processes with each software is to long. As these cds get created daily. I like being able to use WMM as all I need from it are titles and it's easy navigation process to quickly create these copies. They aren't edited at all.

Short of testing every possible permutation of the file types and settings listed above - any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    nexus

Also, is there any way to remove the audio from these projects?
