  1. Hi:
I am using EazyVCD to rip backups of my purchased DVD collection. I see that I can rip these into a VCD or XVCD, what exactly is the difference between the two? Is one better Video quality than the other?

    -Thanks-

  2. The 'X' basically signifies that it in some way exceeds or goes beyond the standards laid down for VCD. This could be something as simple as using VBR encoding where VCD requires CBR. As long as you don't exceed the max VCD bitrate many if bot most players will play these. Other common things that create an X VCD are higher bitrate (shorter playing time but better quality) and non standard resolution (usually higher but possibly lower).

An XVCD may or may not play in any particular make/model of VCD compatible DVD player. Use at your own risk.

    XVCD
eXtended VCD - XVCD has same features as VCD but it is possible to use higher bitrates and higher resolution to get higher video quality. XVCD is basically everything that uses MPEG-1 video, is not within the VCD standard, and burned in "VCD" Mode on a CD-R or CD-R(W). XVCD can be played on some hardware VCD or DVD players and many computers with appropriate software.
