  1. I'm on my way out to best buy from work. We need dvd's. What is the most reliable DVD for a commerial product? I'm leaving in 15 minutes, so a quick response would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a ton,

  2. Mfg wise go with SONY, FUJI, MAXELL

Fuji Japan will be TY's or Maxell's
    Fuji Taiwan will be MCC's

Maxell Japan will be TY's or Maxell's
Maxell Taiwan - not sure... avoid

SONY Japan should be good as well

If you can find Apple.. .buy them too.

Maxell could be TY or Ritek G04. Go with the Japan Maxells and you'll get the TY

  4. How will I know if they are maxwell japans?

I'm just going to best buy. These are discs we make and send out. So they must burn well and play in many players.

Also should I get + or -, again most compatible for video.

    Thanks

The package will say where it was made ...somewhere.

For safety in compatibility, I suggest you go with -R media.

  7. Okay, first off I'ld like to thank everyone for the help yesterday. Upon my arrivel to best buy I saw that none of the DVD-R's by Fuji, Maxell, & Sony where Japan made. Instead they where all Taiwan.

I did however find a 50 pack of Fuji DVD+R Japan made. So my question is to you....

Should I bring back the DVD's and shop around for Japan DVD-R's instead of + R. Or is the Fuji Japan +R's still pretty safe as far as compatibility goes. Like I say we ship our product cross country.

I should note that we have a TDK +/- burner so that is not an issue.

    Thanks

  8. The whole + and - thing.

In the beginning .... as the story goes... -'s were a tad more compatible (especially with older machines). I think it was 95% compatible and +'s were 90-92% or some thing like that.

Now the machines being built today are better adn will pretty much play most anything you throw at 'em. So it depends on your machine and what you will do with the disks.

Your consumption only on newer machine... keep 'em -- they will probably work

Planning to share with fam or friends... get -r's

    IMHO

  9. Well, What do you think is better in terms of compatibility.

    1) Fuji DVD+R Japan

    or

    2) Maxell DVD-R Tiwan

I've got these to pick from right now and need to send some stuff out.

    Thanks

Fuji "made in Taiwan" are PRODISC media anyway, so those would have been just fine.

Same for current Verbatim "made in Taiwan" are MCCRG20 media, also good.

That's about the best you can get at a store these days.

Hunt down APPLE discs from an Apple store for the best you can get.

  11. I suggest the following:-

    - Stick with your + discs, and send those out. In the meantime, order the Japan-Maxells from an online reputable store.

    - If you get any complaints that appear to be attributable to compatibility issues, simply appologize and send out a replacment disc with the (-) discs, which you should have recieved from the online store by then.

-If on the other hand u do not get any complaints, then u can use ur new stock in the future, and u wud have effectively conducted a market study for urself, as to what best fits ur needs.

    Good Luck.
