Earlier today I bought a new Clarion CD Headunit to replace the old Clarion cassette model I had in my car (it died back in June) and went without a radio for 3 months. The matching cd changer though still worked so I bought another matching radio that will work with it (its the Pro Audio series).
Anyway, the salesguy told me that the manufacturer has a promotion going on and offered the SIRIUS radio receiver free with the purchase of the radio....since the one I bought was $200 I gotten the receiver for free. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Only thing I didnt buy was the antenna yet but I will buy that a later time. From what I learned about this service I see that there is a monthy subscription.
Is anyone here a current subscriber of this service? If so is it worth it, and how well does it work for you? I plan to keep my free receiver in the box until I am ready to install it.

I am an XM subscriber, but wished I had gotten SIRIUS. I like the SIRIUS programming a lot more than XM. If you're a Dishnetwork subscriber, you can get SIRIUS channels at home. The nice thing about XM is, the portable tuner is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. And it can be moved from auto to auto, or into the house with ease. But, a tuner deck, although stationary, looks much nicer. Less clutter. The SIRIUS portable unit is quite a bit larger than XM's. Another nice thing about SIRIUS is, you can get a life time subscription for around $450. Yea, I know. That's a lot of money. But if you know you're gonna stick with it, it will eventually pay off..... Eventually, if they dont go belly up.

XM subscriber and love it.
Plenty of music channels that play TONS of music.
Love the uncensored comedy channel, its always good to listen to if you can find anything else.
And best of all... starting Monday morning my extra $2 a month brings me Opie and Anthony.
I think it was a good pick.
XM playlist on their music channels is very "Deep" almost to deep sometimes actually. None of the channels feel like standard radio channels to me, each stick fairly strickly to their specific genre, which is good but means you switch around alot instead of saying on one channel.
I keep hoping that somebody like Pioneer will design and "XM ready" reciver that has both lines of display but I'm not holding my breath. Instead I'm thinking of replacing my Roadie and an XM Commander, its very small, smaller then a radio and less then half an inch think. What I plan to do is create a plastic bracket that uses my storage area just below the radio to hold the command so that its more like an extention of the radio instead of something that sits off the dash.
