  1. Well, heres my problem.

Im making dvds outta anime ogms.

    Here's the information about them:

    - FPS: 23.976
    - XVID

I extracted the audio using virtualdubmod to a wav format. (changed and NOT changed to bitrate on the audios).

Using virtualdubmod frameserver, i import the vdr file to tmgpenc and add the wave file (extracted from virtualdub mod).

I use bitrate for the MPEG2 of no more than 7000 kbps (my dvd supports more than that, so thats not the problem).

I author my DVD on Ulead Workshop, and play it on my computer (using Power DVD) and plays perfectly. BUT! when i play it on my HOME DVD Player, the audio sounds like slowing down, video goes like "STOP, PLAY, STOP, PLAY" (specially on paning scenes, sorry.. dont know the word in english for that.) But the video keeps its timming quite well, but the audio just slows down and on a few seconds video and audio are totally out of sync. Imagine it like if you play a DVD on an OOOOOLD computer, while you are using Corel and Photoshop. You would say that my dvd player its not powerfull enough, but it is.. i checked on a regular dvd whats the bitrate used on it and its almost 9000 (i dont encode higher than 7000).

Someone would say: "Maybe is your DVD media"... well, its not either.. i backed up some of my original DVDs, and burned and played a few minutes ago.. so my MEdia, Burner and Dvd player are not the problem.

Ive been reading the forum, and ts possible that the problems might be:

    - Interlace, NON Interlace source/output video.
    - Framerates
    - bad audio conversion.
    - Have no idea! :S

    Any ideas guys?

i' wasted 6 blank dvd's, because i need to burn the project to check if it plays correctly on my dvd player. Because like i said.. the finished MPEG's plays correct, the preview of my Authoring program (right before burning) plays the dvd correctly, the burned dvd, has some little video problems (flicks... is this the word?), but the home dvd player just makes a mess. So checking the VOB/IFO files before burning, dont help that much for me.

    Please help

I think you'll find that your computer will play almost anything.

Firstly I would suggest getting a RW disc.

One way to rule out the audio straight away is to demux your MPEG2 file (or re-encode but output video only to a M2V file) and author this as per normal. This will create a video only DVD and if it plays fine then your audio is to blame.

Make sure if you are encoding 23.976fps that you have the 3:2 pulldown on playback selected also.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Ok, so.. encode video and audio separate to obtain a m2v, make dvd on a DVDRW with that m2v, if it plays good, then the audio is the problem.

I must encode 23.976fps and with the 3:2 pulldown on playback selected also.

Is there a way to know if my video is Interlace or NON Interlaced? Maybe thats the problem too dont you think?

And what should i do if the video works fine on my dvd, and the problem is the audio? how should i procceed with the audio?

  5. Another thing.. is there a way to know if my video source is Interlace, NON Interlaced, Top Field First, Bottom Field First?

Could it be the field order? I know this makes a difference for video, but I don't think it effect audio.

I have read threads about how to determine filed order, but I am not sure there is any fool proof or easy way to do it. I always just endode a short segement using each order and burn to a RW.

  8. Yup.. i havent find a treath that tells me how to check that information on my source video.

So i will have to do 1 video of each setting and see wich one really works.

    Be back later

    ****ending4.mv2*********************************** **

    MPEG SETTINGS/VIDEO

    MPEG SETTINGS/ADVANCED

    - Source aspect ratio: 4:3 Display

    ************************************************** ***

    ****ending5.mv2*********************************** **

    MPEG SETTINGS/VIDEO
    - 23.976
    - 2-pass VBR
    - Bitrate: 6400
    - Encode mode: Non-Interlace

    //Video Source Settings//

    - Video Source type: interlace
    - Field Order: Bottom Field First (Field B)
    - Source aspect ratio: 4:3 Display

    ************************************************** ***

I checked them on my DVD player and "ending3.mv2", "ending4.mv2", "ending5.mv2" looked okey. The STOP-PAUSE-STOP-PAUSE on motion objects is gone. The funny thing is that you suggest me to use "3:2 pulldown" and those 2 i use 3:2 pulldown with, didnt played correctly, they still have that "STOP-PAUSE-STOP-PAUSE on motion objects".

So i think that ill stick with "ending3.mv2", "ending4.mv2", "ending5.mv2" settings. Now.. what about the audio? i have a WAV file, what format and specs you recommend? and what program also?

    Thanks guys
