  1. This is just happening about one month ago. Everytime I play a recorded DVD it t just restarts. It doesn't matter the brand, I tried Imation, CompUsa, Memorex, and TDK. These recorded discs play fine in my standalone DVD player.

I use Ulead DVD player and Windows XP operating software.

    Thanks.

That sounds like an overheating issue.

You need to try a dif player and see if it still happens. If it dont happen with say.. win dvd then its ulead. If it still does it then its not the media player. Step by step though.

May be or may be not...

Do you do any encoding or any other things on your computer which requires fair amount of resources (cpu, harddrive, memory) etc?

If you do those things, does your computer reboot too? Or only when you try to play DVD (particularly, recorded DVD)

Also do you have other DVD player on your PC? If you have, give it/them a try. May be Ulead DVD player is a problem too...

You need to test out the different situations...

  5. ** This is off topic ** My appology if I offended any one

It is funny, when I submitted and posted mine. It returned that mine was right underneath bazooka's.

Now it is under one other post.

    Just wondering.

And I know this is off topic. My appology if I offended any one but I am just puzzled.

    Have a good day..

phpBB buffer. My guess is one message got confirmed by the system before the other did. I've seen it happen before with my own posts...

  7. Thanks for all your insight, I'll try to answer your questions as accurate as possible.

    1. I'm sure it's not an overheating issue because it restarts even when I just turn on the computer. Plus it plays original DVDs fine.

    2. I tried Windows Media Player and the program crashes instead of my computer restarting.

    3. I am not doing any encoding or using the cpu in any extensive way. My computer acts fine when doing encoding or recording a DVD.

    4. Original DVDs play fine on my computer using either Ulead or Windows Media Player.

    Aprreciate any additional insights. Thanks

  8. Is the drive you're trying to play the DVD in a DVD burner or DVD-ROM drive?

First of all, does windows media player actually play DVDs ?
Next, try to play an mpeg2 file thats on ur hard drive(dvd or svcd etc.) . We need to isolate the buger causing ur problem. If the files play using ulead or wmp or win dvd / power dvd , then concentrate efforts on ur dvd drive. Step by step though.

    That did not make sense.

The fact that it restarts like that would imply overheating.

  11. That said, it is still not enough to give you any firm solution(s). However, based on experience, I would suggest few things. You may even have them or done already.

    1. If you are using McAfee, perhaps switch to NAV. They both are good, I found McAfee a bit more hoggy with resources. But NAV has its own issues IMHO

    2. Run Ad-aware and Spybot (I run them multiple times a day)

    3. Replace the ROM or burner. This is personaly encounter. One of my CD ROMs appeared to be fine - at least report by DOS and Windows (9x and NT based). But as soon as I put a CD in it. The system crashed. It was replace 2 years ago and never had the problem again.
