avi to dvd-using dvd2vcd crashes at dvd authoring stage

please help,i am new to conversion,trying to convert avi movie to dvd,using guide on this website,using the following software:tmpgenc,tmpgenc dvd author,dvd2vcd all is well untill it tries to author dvd,get following message"dvd author failed for some reason"
i looked in dvd author log it reads:

DVDAuthor::dvdauthor,version 0.6.10

in the mplex log it states there are unrecogniseable file(s)...exiting
please help me,dvd2vcdfilm is the default output folder,located in my documents

Hrmmm I couldn't tell you what's the problem but... I can show you what I do to sucessfully create my DVD's.

First I encode with tmpgenc in the DVD mode which creates 2 files one is a .m2v files and the other is an audio file.

Then I use tmpgenc author to create the Video_TS and Audioa_TS files into a folder called "Volume 1"

After that I burn them onto a DVD disc using Nero.
