  1. I have a Mad Dog Demonator which is a rebranded NEC 2500a. On the box under datea transfer rate it says DVD-RAM 1x. Will it actually read my ram discs from my standalone dvd recorder? IF so, how would I get it to read the disc? Thanks

  2. I'll reply till someone else comes along

I have the Nec 2500A Oem version, not rebranded or retail.
I don't think Ram was listed as readable when I bought mine.

    All I can find now is "Read Speed: 40X CD-ROM, 12X DVD-ROM"
SO I don't think they do.
Easiest way is to try one, if the disk is good and the drive supports the RAM format it will work by itself, nothing you should need to do. Kinda like sticking in a CD, DVD+R, -R, RW ect... The drive should just work.

  3. I haven't installed it yet. I was thinking about giving it to my brother and keeping my A06. I'm pretty sure you need a software program to read the ram disk; I read it some where for the LG40 or whatever that popular drive was called. I'll try calling customer support and wait for more responses. Thanks

    It says:
    dvd+/-r 8x(11mb/sec)
    dvd=/-rw 4x(5.5mb/sec)
    cdr 32x
    cd-rw 16x
    dvd-rom 12x
    cd-rom 40x
    dvd-ram 1x (2,704 kb/sec)

I have a nu-Tech EBW-242 24x combo drive that can read DVD-RAM disks. The only special software I have in my system is Nero InCD 4.3.0.3.

I will test if my Nec 2500A can also read DVD-RAM tonight.

  5. RAM discs have files just like other discs. If your 2500 will read them (my 3500 won't) then they will just pop up like any window when you click on the drive. To play the files you need TMPGEnc or a similar program.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  6. OfficeMax has Mad Dog Demonator's for $9 after rebate, they were free the other day after rebate though.

As long as you install a dvdram driver you just put in a dvd dram disk & it reads it the same as any other disk.

NEC 2500 (Maddog Dominator 6 in 1 dual) will not read DVD-RAM. The Toshiba 5112 (maddog Dominator 6 in 1 DVD-RW) will. I confirmed it using DVDinfopro.

  10. There are about a dozen or more ways. The simplest is to check your drive properties in the control panel.
Still a few bugs in the system...
