been seeing some user posting Nero 6 having an error...i also encountered some error while burning using Nero 6 latest update...

is Nero 6 still reliable and stable for you?

if you were to rate the reliability and stability of Nero 6 from scale of 1(Very Poor) to 6(Excellent)? what would be your rating?

any other burning program which you think is more reliable and more stable than Nero 6(can be used for VCD and DVD back-up projects)?

It's crap. I've tried it on three machines and it was buggy on all three - freezing partway through the burn every time. It did this with CDs and DVDs. I'm staying with Nero 5.5.10.xxx.

I have had Nero 6 Ultra addition installed on my system ever since it came out, so far no problems. I mostly use Nero Express and Recode.
InCD is not installed because it did give me some issues when I first installed it many moons ago.

  7. While it's not been all *that* bad with Nero, I have come to depend on 120% for the best results. Not bashing Nero, but I've found what it won't or refuses to do 120% does 120%. without the guess work.

    Nero 6 A-OK here. 6 - Excellent.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Nero6 has been great for me for VCD's. But I've had problems with burning DVD's. I've experienced many DVD burning failures. Ironically, if I try to burn the same thing using the DVD Writer that comes with TMPGEnc DVD Writer no problems.

  12. Never a problem with Nero 6. I've been Nero since version 5 came out. There are times I have had to update or upgrade due to newer technologies and hardware (CD/DVD drives) through the years, but much better than Roxio.
If it works, don't fix it.

Never had problems with the 5.5.10.xx series but have been trying to get away from "bloatware" this year. Tried Nero 6 Ultra but found too much overhead for just a "CD burner program". I use DVD Decrypter and CDBurnerXP Pro mostly. Both free and eat up very few resources.

  14. I give it a 5. still use version 6.0.11.
Its been pretty reliable for anything I've thrown at it. Only problem I've run into is that it doesn't like to burn multiple copies. If I set copies to 2 then after loading the second disc it often times locks up and I have to restart it. I have to burn a copy and then burn the project again. No big deal since I have to be there to change the disc anyway.

  15. I'm seriously thinking of using Nero-Clean one last time.........and then reinstalling Nero 5.5.

DVDShrink works better than Nero Recode. DVDShrink will decrypt the disc for you, eliminating at least one step.

Nero Digital can only be read (without difficulty) on this machine, so what good is it.

I never had trouble making a bootable CD-Rom before with 5.5, but i can't make it work with the latest; v6.3.1.20.

The Blue Screen of death comes outta nowhere, for no good reason.

You can tell NeroVision where you want to go, but if you try to tell it how to get there it ignores you, and does things "Its own way".

Nero MPEG-2 encoder looks like garbage!

About a third of the free audio plugins at; http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/ won't work with Nero 6 even though they worked just fine with 5.5.

  16. Ditto what Jayhawk said on Nero. I much prefer the 'older' interface.

You don't have to load the multi task interface if you don't want. Just set a shortcut to the nero6 folder so that it points to nero.exe. That will just load the Nero Burning rom panel. It's not exactly like 5.5.10.xx but pretty close.

For my Plextor 708a burner I still use Nero version 5.5.10.42 on my pent 2.4 pc. I use the latest Nero 6 ultra on my new pent 4 3.0 pc for Pioneer 107D burner & Liteon 411s burner on the pent 3 933 pc. All of them run ok with no problems. It maybe another story once I install XP PRO on the newer pc.
