  1. I am convert avi to mpg2 using CCE on my Pentium 3.0E Ghz. It only use about 80% of cpu usage during the coversion. 15-20% of cpu usage is sitting at system idle. So I wonder is this normal? How can I make CCE to use 100% cpu usage, so it will finish the coversion faster.

(At 80% cpu usage 23min avi take about 8min for each pass to convert to mpg2)

Do you have HT enabled ?
If you do, remember 50 % would be one complete physical (logical) processor and the other 30 % would be what it's using of the second HT virtual processor.

You need a SCSI hard disk instead of IDE. CPU too fast for the hard disk to handle.

It is probably on by default .You can check by hitting alt-ctrl-delete,choosing task manager ,and then clicking the performance tag. If you see 2 CPU graphs it's on. If you see one,it isn't. You could also do this whil you are encoding with CCE and see if the one CPU is pegged and the second is not.
