I've just recently obtained VideoStudio 8 to produce a video for a wedding reception presentation coming up soon.
I test burned a SVCD 25 minute collection of still images to CDR without problem.
Then I put together the video clips for the presentation and started the SVCD burn to CDR for that. I came back to check the progress about 1 hour later and it showed "converting videos" 75% done. I returned in about 40 minutes to find an error message: "CD not ready" or something to that effect--and the CD was totally blank.
I haven't been able to see what the problem is and I'm running out of time to finish the project. Can someone give me a clue?
Also, I first intended to burn the presentaion to a DVD-RAM, but when I went through the VS8 "create disc" procedure, the drop down selection for the drive showed only my CDRW drive not the DVD drive, and I can't get it to see the DVD burner.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Three things tro try, 1 A different disc, if that doesn't work try another. If your using cheap discs you may have a whole bunch of bad ones. 2 Make sure that you have updated VS8, your burning software and the firmware for your burner. 3. Create a ISO file for your project and burn it with your burning software.

Thanks, thecoalman.
I used Memorex CDR, which worked for the slideshow rendering, but I'll try other brands for the video clips. I suspect, though, that the problem is that VS8 does not support my DVD drive. I now see on Ulead.com that my Panasonic (Matshita) DVD-RAM LF-D311 is not listed among compatible burners. The burning pack released 8/15/04 specifically added the LF-D310, and the 311 is not in their comprehensive list.
I see they have updated burning engines as follows:
ULCDRDrv.dll - 3.6.17.246 2004/07/27
ULCDRDrv.dll - 3.6.15 .239 2004/06/01
ULCDRDrv.dll - 3.6.15 .232 2004/04/21
My current ULCDRDrv.dll is 3.6.15.218 (3/12/04). It's not clear to me which of the 3 updated engines I should be downloading--the first, and latest one above?
I hate to ask what is probably a stupid question, but how do I create an ISO file that I can burn with Nero? I don't see that option under Tools > Create disc, or Create video disc.
Thanks for the assistance.Tracker -
Not exactly sure how to do it, but there's an option for it on the burn menu. I remeber doing it. I haven't used it quite a while....
I see only one update for VS8 http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm -
Have not had time to experiment as yet (hurricane Ivan preparations) but will get back to it soon.
One point of clarification right now: so I can't mix file types in the project, just all mpeg's or all avi's? My clips were mpeg, avi and wmv. I see there's no mention of wmv's in the help file, though they play fine in the preview.Tracker
