I'm looking for a set top DVD recorder that I can use in the field. Since I will be carrying it from place to place, size and weight are major concerns.

I had high hopes for the little HP DVD recorder, since it is the size of an external computer recorder, but the problem with it is - even though it has a built in encoder, it still needs to be connected to a computer.

So I guess I'll have to settle for a full size recorder. Anybody know which ones are the smallest??

The JVC is nice and slim.
The Sanyo and Pioneer may be smaller.

Most recorders are the size of a full VCR deck.

  5. A simple Google search will yield a few DVD-Camcorders and some of them will record to DVD-R/RAM, a bit pricey though.
