I'm looking for a set top DVD recorder that I can use in the field. Since I will be carrying it from place to place, size and weight are major concerns.
I had high hopes for the little HP DVD recorder, since it is the size of an external computer recorder, but the problem with it is - even though it has a built in encoder, it still needs to be connected to a computer.
So I guess I'll have to settle for a full size recorder. Anybody know which ones are the smallest??

Have you considered video camcorder? Pricey, though.

The JVC is nice and slim.
The Sanyo and Pioneer may be smaller.
Most recorders are the size of a full VCR deck.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

A simple Google search will yield a few DVD-Camcorders and some of them will record to DVD-R/RAM, a bit pricey though.
