I have ripped 3 small movies to my Windows XP (Home) HD which has a built in combo+ drive and as they were ripped from a DVD-R I could only burn them to disk by opening the folders and extracting the files individually. I would like to chapter them so people can view them properly. I can't TMPGenc author them, they wont add. What can be done? Any ideas? Awaiting feedback

You can try to add them to TDA by changing the file extension from .vob to .mpg, then try to add them. If that doesn't work, try loading them into Virtual Dub mod and frameserving them to TMPGEnc Plus! to change them into a proper MPEG file and then add them to TDA.
    Hello.

  3. The VOB files are just the audio/video/subtitles. The IFO files of a DVD contain the chapter points. In order for the VOB files to have chapters, they must be authored.

I don't know if IFOEDIT has a facility for chapter points, but I would look there first. It's powerful and free.

I'm not familiar enough with TMPGEN DVD Author to be able to help you with the "won't add" problem, but TMPGEN DVD Author should accept VOB files.

If that doesn't work, thne you might want to see if DVD Lab can read them in and re-author. If you go the DVD-Lab route, demux the VOBs to elementary streams when it asks you. It will work much better on the re-author.

For mor info on these tools and the authoring process, check out the GUIDES to the left.

When you add the VOB with TDA, did you click 'add file' or 'add video'?
You should click the button says 'add video' with VOB files.

I have just realised that they are not VOB files but VTS files if I want to get them onto a DVD+ is it still the same principle or should I just rename them VOB?

They don't have extensions. They appear just like VOB files would but are in fact VTS._01 files

  8. Open Window Explorer > Tools > Folder Options.. > View and uncheck " Hide file extentions for known file type".

Then post the extention of those files. ( The full name)

These are the full file extension names VTS._01_0.VOB VTS._01_0.IFO. So it seems they are VOB files after all. As I think I mentioned before, I can play the files but unfortunately on my video screen will only show as files and are not chaptered. I don't know how to go about frameserving with virtualdubmod as tommyknocker mentioned, this I yet have to learn. So what's your solution Faithful. I haven't lost faith yet

  10. You have to be more detailed for people to help you.

Need you to list ALL the file names of each movie.

Those are all the main files which are pertinent to each movie folder except that the numbering goes up by one by one. That is all the info I have faithful. But if you are not sure, I understand I'm sure I'll find the solution somehow. Thanks anyway
