  1. Hi there,

I'm intermittently making coasters and I'd like some input as to why it might be happening if possible.

I usually use DVD Shrink to rip/compress my DVDs, then either burn with DVD Shrink or Nero 6.3 Ultra. Regardless of which I use to burn, here is my problem. On about 30% of my burns, part way through the DVD, the video will stop, then skip ahead 5-30 seconds then play a little then freeze again, etc. Any idea what causes this?

I have a 411S Lite-On 4x burner and have tried lots of different media with the same result. I've tried Memorex + and -, Sony - & + and Prodisc white top -'s.

Could it just be DVD Shrink? The original DVDs play fine and none appear to have flaws.

My neighbor has the same burner as you and had the same problem until he changed blank media and started using Branded Riteks and Verbatim's.
Memorex has 4+ manuf of their disks and really no quality control.

Memorex dvd media is crappy. Use better brands of dvd media.

  5. where can i buy good blan dvd-r media like the riteks and verbatims you guys mentioned for a good price online??? in the usa of course

I am using a apex 5131 and a pioneer 106 dvd burner and i burned 100 dvds and not one problems but recently i bought some cheap DVD blanks princos white label with paper labels on the surface, the first 50 burned flawlessly the 2nd spindle tons of freezing always at the end mainly. I thought it was my DVD burner or my player. I tried the same burnt dvd on my apex and xbox and same effects. I think its the media because my dvd burner says no errors nothing and it seems to burn fine. I am hoping its the media and not my burner. I tried burning at 4x to 1x same effects lots of freezing at the endings of my dvds.

  6. Be sure the Verbatims are made in Singapore. That insures they are the MCC disks.
If it works, don't fix it.
