While browsing http://cdrinfo.com I ran across an article talking about 9.4GB DVD-R Blanks. I went to the site to investigate and found that they are allowing customers to preorder DVD-R media at $2.95 each for single sided and $4.95 for double sided. I did not check on their terms to see if there is a limit or not, but I thought that there might be some people on the site that might be interested.
...how the heck do you label the double sided discs?
The site that is selling the media is located at:

i think i know how they made it...they just glued two single sided DVD-R label by label

I believe the dual layer disks r only writtable on one side and the laser changes somehow to reach the second layer much the way dual layer DVD-Video does.

Quite correct. However, they are advertising these as doubel sided instead of dual layer. As I understand it, there are still problems that need to be worked out before dual layer burrning can become a reality.
