I am trying to use Vidomi to encode an MPG1 to Divx. Whenever I try it hangs or ignores my input. I think I may have some kind of codec problem. I have tried to uninstall /reinstall vidomi.

    Any ideas? Thanks

    Hello,
Why don't you try virtualdubmpeg2 to convert it? It will accept mpeg files. This might work better. Though remember, you won't make it look any better than the source file.

the source may be corrupt, try repair with tmpgenc, www.videohelp.com/faq#repairmpg

or you could try virtualdub or dr. divx.

    Hello,

Why would you want to do 2 pass? You can't improve the video cd quality by much (if at all!). It would probably just be a waste of processing time.

So, are saying that it cannot then? I thought 2 pass was always better (at least a little)

    Hello,
I only use 1 pass so I can't say for 100% sure. But, it does do divx so I'm betting it can do whatever you want it to.

I'm just saying it probably won't be worth it on a video cd file.

it can do 2-pass, but I think what yoda's trying to say is that if your source is mediocre, it's probably not worth doing 2-pass unless you really want to get a low file size.
    If in doubt, Google it.

How do you start a 2 pass Divx encode in VirtualDub-MPEG2?

I think when you set the video compression, you choose multipass, 1st pass, then for subsequent passes, you choose multipass, nth pass.
    If in doubt, Google it.
