Starting tomorrow Office Depot is having a buy 1 get 1 free on Maxell DVD media. The regular price is $79.97 for a 50 pack but they've dropped it to $59.95 for a 50 pack and it's a buy 1 get 1 free. I think i've read that the -R's are either Maxell or Taiyo Yuden so this appears to be a great deal.
Anyone know if there are any active Office Depot online coupon codes such as the take $15 off of $50 or more, etc?

It would be interesting to see if those 50 packs are actually TAIYO YUDEN because I purchased a 50 pack spindle last month and the label said, "MADE IN TAIWAN". The discs were RITEK G04 & I returned the spindle back to OFFICE DEPOT. Take a look at this thread:

I went to J and R in they are selling Maxell DVD-R for 49.99. They were made in Taiwan.
When it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!! -
Anyone know what their online return policy is?
Made in Japan is a great deal but Made in Taiwan and back they go. Dont have one close by but I am real low on discs. -
I have an Office Depot 5 minutes from my house and will check this out tomorrow morning.
A few weeks back they had a sale on Maxell DVD-R in a 25 pack at the "buy 1, get 1 free" and they were the Japanese Maxell. These are very very excellent discs. I will buy 100 tomorrow if I can get Japanese Maxell....if they are Taiwan Maxell I will pass as the deal is nothing special at all. The packages are clearly marked on the outside so it is easy to check. -

Since I dont have an OD near me I am gonna roll the dice and hope I get the made in Japan discs. They can be returned for full refund.
By the way, Staples has 20 packs of Maxell Japan DVD -R with full jewel cases for 20 bucks, not great but not bad either. -
For those of you in the Las Vegas/Henderson area, I went to the Office Depot on Marks street in Henderson and literally all of the Maxell DVDs both plus and minus R were made in Taiwan. This includes the 15, 25, and 50 packs.

I too stopped by at Office Depot and the 50 pack spindles were all made in Taiwan.

Staples is having a sale on Maxell 20-packs in standard jewel cases this week. The -R discs I got said "Made in Japan". The +R discs should be Ricoh. Price is $19.97, perhaps not as good a deal but at least they're from Japan.
I saw some Sony 10-packs there too which were made in Japan, but the price was a little much at $17.97 -
Has anyone gotten made in Japan on these?
Mine are delivering tomorrow, I will post the results tomorrow night.
OD tells me I can return for a full refund for any reason, so if they are not made in Japan, back they go and I buy a 20 pack in staples -
Went into my local OD today and saw that all the 50 packs were Taiwain produced so I passed. I noticed the 15 packs were made in Japan so i'll wait until those go on sale and get some of them. Also noticed the top side of the Made in Taiwain disks were yellow but a brighter yellow almost looked like some kind of Crayola kids disk or something. Very poor looking compared to the top side of the Made in Japan disks which were also yellow but those were a lite yellow with a gloss finish.

Thanks guys for the help.
Maxell is blowing it. Back to RIMA and TY's for now. -
Got mine from OD today, back they go.
Ordered 50 pack of TY from Rima.com instead
Anything other than made in Japan is not worth the risk. -
Got a 50 pack of Maxell printable 635129 from PageComputers today. Made in Japan.

I took two home, expecting MXL RG02 like I'd bought before. Boy was I pleasantly surprised when they came up TYG01!! So basically, Japanese spindles are still around, you just have to look around and get a little lucky.
