  1. Hi. I have a dvd camcoder (sony dcr-dvd 100) and I have a problem by making the home videos. I got a software(image mixer v.1.5) with my dvd camcoder and it do not do his job. I put movies in to the history line, I put some efects and then I click the button to start make the movie. After couple hours the error pop and it says "burning failed" or something similar. My burner is sony DRX-530UL. I tried to make a dvd disc image with nero but when i burn the image on the disk it plays with no sound. Maybe someone has a same camcoder and knows how to burn the home videos? Or maybe someone had the same problem? It makes me mad when i pay so much money and those things dont do what I want.

    Sorry for my English.

I don't have the camera, but I think this is in the wrong forum...

This videocamera records mpeg2, not DV. Most digital camcorders record DV on tapes. Your videocamera records audio in AC-3, if I'm not mistaken.

You might look at something like Sony Screenblast to edit and burn your videos (works with mpeg2), and includes integrated DVD authoring tools. The reviews looks promising, and you can try it before you buy it. But, you want something that works well with mpeg2, and ac-3 files.

My videocamera (panasonic sv-av100) also records mpeg2, but the audio is mpeg1, layer 2, and it records to a secure digital card. I found Womble Mpeg Video Wizard works great for me, but it doesn't support AC3, so it probably wouldn't help you.

First try it without effects to get familiar with the software. I cannot understate the importance of reading your hardware/software manual (!) carefully. Image Mixer comes from Sony and you should be able to get support from them. You may greatly benefit from their advice and expertise.

Also you ought to give a detailed problem description (not "something like that...") if you need some assistance.

  4. I trying to open my captures with sony screenblast studio 3, but it says that they do not support that format. I read the manual, I followed steps on it but it did not help. I will try to do movies with no effects and then I will write here what happened.

  5. I burned with no effects and it worked, but when I play it on dvd player, it stops after every scene and then the disc menu pops out. I put there about 20 scenes and its very uncomfortible to choose the scene every time it stops. After that I put two scenes with bigger length of movie. It about 94% and then that error poped again it said :
    "Message # = [IM06046]
    Failed to write DVD"
I searched in the google on that error but it found only one site and it was in japanese language.
So I don't know what to do next.

OK so the problem is DVD authoring. Switching to menu after every chapter means that you have (unknowingly) created links telling your DVD player to treat each chapter as a separate movie. Check in the tools section ( to the left) under "DVD authoring" what other programs are available. Many use Ulead VideoStudio or DVD Workshop (also DVD Factory) for example.
You would need to check what is your audio format if you want to use another application (compatibility issue). or learn how to use Sony stuff you have. Keep it simple and try making basic DVD's first. After few discs you may start adding other features (once you know how it works) like chapters, moving menus etc.

  7. Hi. I recorded two chapters to dvd. I put those little chapters into two big chapter, but this time I did not use the effects and it burned with no errors. So now I think that the problem could be the effects. On the effects I put transitions and mp3 file into a background music. So maybe one of these affects the burning.

First, never use integrated software to create the whole project at once, you will never know what is casing the problem. Instead do it in stages and save every step of the way.
The only (right way) to create a DVD is:
    - prepare and edit video, add transitions, then save and TEST the video
    - author the DVD, add menus, chapters to the previously tested video material, do not burn, let it save the whole thing to a folder on the HD
    - test the content of the DVD using PowerDVD or similar, only if OK burn to the disc
Remember: test, test and test until you get proficient with the tools you use.

  9. What do you mean by saying "only if OK burn to the disc " if you mean "does the power dvd plays the media files ok"? then yes it plays okay with the transitions. But it is only media files with transitions in mpeg2 format, with no menus or chapters so I don't know how to test that. Today I burned two dvds with transitions. One was good and other one was no good- same error "failed wite to dvd".

You may play the mpeg2 file and thus check its quality. Playing the video_ts folder will give you the preview of the entire DVD with menus and chapters before you burn (your software creates the content of the DVD on the HD and then transfers it to the DVD media, test it before the transfer but after the DVD (all the files) was created).

Does your software allow you to create a DVD on a HD (before it burns)?
    If so, in what format?

Try to find an extractor like Winiso that is capable of opening the file. Extract it and play the DVD on your PC

there is an option "play DVD on HD" point it to the video_ts folder. doubleclicking on video_ts.ifo will open a DVD (reinstall powerDVD to reassociate) or right click on ifo file and choose open with .... select PowerDVD

Don't have much time lately. Since I have and use different software then you it's very difficult to determine what's going wrong. We're getting into very basic issues and I'm not in the position to lay out a full course how to check, playback and deal with DVD files. I guess this portion you would need to figure out yourself either from user manuals or guides posted on this site. I tried to point out key issues and this is what this site is for. Can't engage in one on one mail exchange about every possible issue you may be encountering. This is a learning process, everyone went through this at some point of time... I think that you need to spend more time learning basics of DVD making and you'll find videohelp.com guides to be very helpful. Good luck.
