    Just got Sony Handyman dvd108
Using DVD-RW DL. Recorded several files in 'video'format.

Ejected disc, inserted in pioneer 112d (brand new burner) - and windows explorer shows nothing on dvd. However, put it back in sony - files appear

Also put in in Standalone Phillips Divx player- shows 'root' folder- but no files.

I thought I can copy files straight from PC without using camcorder?

I installed sonys software- connected camcorder to PC. Found camcorder, found files, then copied them to PC.. But, I thought the mini DVD will play straight from media?

Yes, media was finalized. Please advise. Maybe its because im using Dual Layered DVD-RW media. Maybe I should just use Single sided RW media?

Cam doesnt even recognize 2nd side - unless I manually flip it over myself. I think cam only recognizes DL if this DVD+R DL media only.

    I bought these from ebay:
Double-side MINI DVD-RW disc can store up to 2.8GB.

So- I guess these are Double sided (not dual layered)..Meaning I must manually flip them over. Im OK with that...my real issue is..

OK. So, I still cant view the mpg files on my PC without going thru my camcorder. Is this normal? Just wanna be able to insert this disc into my pioneer or standalone and play. Heres link to discs I bought:

After further research, I found out Sony has made the files inaccessible unless you use their software. So I installed cd, ran 'import media files' app- and it found the files on the disc. So, I dont need to connect the cam, just run the app to find files.

Now, It makes 2 files for each video clip. .Modd and .mpeg. Can I delete the modd files? The mpegs play fine without em.

  4. I know this post is pretty much old, but... well, I have this same camcorder Sony DCR-DVD108 and I can play the mpegs in Windows normally.
HOWEVER, I cannot importe this mpg in any software.... I don't know why.

Maybe I need a different coded?
