  1. Hi everyone, i just bought a dvd writer and have lots of .avi files i want to write onto dvd so i can play them on my DVD player and television. except, there are lots of excellent guides on this site telling me how to convert the files, expect when i try and do this (with nero vision, tmpgenc etc) it seems to want to take 10+ hours to convert! is this right should it take that long?

    i have an athlon 2100, 512 RAM and 256 9600xt graphics card.

can anyone recommend a good guide or adive for me as i am totally new to conversion and writing!

    any help much appreciated, thanks.

avisynth to resize, Mainconcept to encode video, GoldWave to extract audio, ffmpeggui to encode audio to AC3, srt2sup for subtitles, IfoEdit to author, imgtools classic to make image, DVDDecrypter to burn.
Encoding takes about 1/2 of movie length on my system, the rest is around 1-10 minutes each.
