Hi all. After installing SP2, I noticed that my dvd-rom drive icon suddenly disappeared from my computer. When I go to hardware manager, it's not listed in the drive portion, but when i scan for hardware changes it pops up there and my computer. It is a toshiba sd-m1712 with the no limit firmware hack. It's a pain in the ass to keep scanning every time i boot up my computer to find the drive. Before SP2, it was working fine and i had no problem like this before. My brother has the same dvd-rom drive with the same firmware, but he isn't experiencing this problem. Any ideas or solutions are welcome indeed. thanks.

This has worked for me before:
Turn off computer and unplug drive. Boot.
Turn off computer and plug in drive. Boot.
This should let the OS find the drive again. -
Try doing this.
1. start -> run and type regedit
2. Remove the Upperfilter and lowerfilter values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_mACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTRO L\CLASS\
