  1. I am just wondering - I have a DVD player that says it supports CD-Rs, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD video, but I can't seem to get it to recognize anything on a DVD that I burn there.
What format does the video need to be?
I have tried converting to DVD (MPEG-4), but that is not working.

    Please help if you can
    Thanks

The standard DVD formats are to the left in 'What is". I doubt if MPEG-4 would work.

More likely your problem is your recording media. You might try some different brands.

You don't say what programs you are using or the methods used to produce a DVD.

It looks like you need to study the guides to the left. The questions you ask are all answered there.

  3. hey thanks

I was just wondering, because I have a pretty cheap DVD player, and it runs video after I convert it from AVI to MPEG - but this new one won't play the same files.

Could well be the way you are burning it too. You have to convert to DVD-Compliant MPEG-2 files, then author (converts your MPEG-2 files to IFOs, BUPs and VOBs) and then burn a DVD-Compliant disc.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. yeah - well, with my other DVD player, none of that was needed.
I just burned the mpg files as files on the disc, and they just came up as a list to select on the player.
I guess that's not common though

    thanks

Some players can play MPEG without it being authored properly. As you say, it is not a common feature just yet. Other players strictly request the presence of VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders.
    If in doubt, Google it.
