  1. I love MemoriesOnTV for the Ken Burns effect, but would like to synchronize the changing of the pictures to the beat of the music. There's no way that I've seen to put in keyframes or drag the duration of the pictures to match the music. Is there an easy way to do want I want from within MOTV?

I was thinking of creating a slideshow with MOTV for the Ken Burns effect but without any transitions. Then I can razor (cut) the pictures, apply transitions, and drop them into the timeline at the marked points.

I'd prefer to do it all within MOTV if possible, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Another solution, which might give you more control, is photodex's ProShowGold. It's only $69 and it gives you a fair amount of control over the timing of the pictures, the transitions, and the music. It even has a feature that tries to automatically time the pictures to the music, but I haven't tried it yet.

Sorry I can't help with MOTV. I tried it and didn't particularly like it because it didn't seem to give me enough control.

    good luck

Adobe Premiere will let you do exactly that .... but it's pretty spendy. You tap your finger on the spacebar to the beat of the music and the pictures key in on your tap. Then you can fine tune by moving the pictures to the high point of the pictured waveform. It does work nice ... but then again ............

  5. I've tried doing slideshows in Premier with the method mentioned and with Trapcode's Sound Keys. The keyframing w/storyboard works fine, but I just haven't taken the time to figure out the best way to get motion graphics (i.e., Ken Burns Effect) as smoothly --and certainly not as easily-- as some of these dedicated slideshow programs.

I'm giving the ProShowGold evaluation copy a try as suggested by beartums. It looks like it does exactly what I want it to do, but it runs so slow! I reckon I'm being too picky now. I also didn't see a page peel transition in ProShowGold. I thought that was a little strange.

  6. You're right about slow -- I don't like having to wait 20 or 30 seconds everytime I want to check the timing of a segment.

I never noticed about the page peel, but I can't find one either.

Still, I tried Imaginate and MOTV and I like the features of PSG best. Maybe furture versions will be easier and faster.

  7. Overall, proshowgold is a good program. Thanks for directing me to it. I like the way you select the pre and post pan area much better than the selection tool on the latest version of MOTV.
