Hello. I am planning to get a new burner very soon, and the newegg deal on ND-3500A has caught my eyes. The only thing I would like to have but ND-3500A doesn't is bitSetting. Does anyone know if there will be a hack firmware soon? Also, does anyone have any advice / comment on this / other drives?
Thanks.

It does set dual layer to DVD-ROM. Unless you're distributing your DVDs out to alot of people bitsetting isn't "critical", but it is a plus. Their may be hacked firmware that will do bitsetting for single layer plus, but only maybe. You'll need to keep in touch with the NEC forum at cdfreaks.com. The only other flaw is that its probably not a great reader, but I'm not so sure its a really bad reader either. Cdrinfo.com did a review on it's older sibling the 2510. Its a good deal for $90. the only other one I'd condsider is the BenQ 1620 or Pioneer 108. The BenQ is known to be an excellent reader and it also does bitsetting, but it only does 2.4x DL.
