  1. I've been considering for a while whether to buy a Divx compatible stand-alone player. But I was wondering how the picture quality compares between a straight Divx/Xvid encoded file played on a compatible player, and a Divx to DVD conversion, played on a standard DVD player...

  2. I take it you mean Divx and dvd standalone?

    Well i have the kiss dp-1000, which i got for Xmas 2003, and im well happy with it. The quality is just as good as u expect it to be. But i did come across some problems, which are...

    1> Has real difficultiy in playing divx/xvid movies encoded at or higher than 200kbps.
    2> If a movie is encoded with ogg vorbis sound, it wont play (even though it states it plays ogg vorbis??
    3> And when on standby mode, PSU makes a screaching sound. (need to turn off power)

    It will play around 80-90% of the movies u through at it. If u have a mpeg2 file, no need to convert to dvd, just burn the mpeg2 file(s) to cd/dvd and it will play it. I dont regret asking for this a a present. it saves alot of time and money, gr8 machine....SasArchiver

  3. Also u ask divx 2 dvd conversion! well what goes in comes out. If a bit pixeliy, then resulting dvd will show this also. My self, i just leave divxs on one cd, if they come on 2, which means high bitrate of 200kbps, ill convert into dvd. Ofcourse because it is on 2 cds, its a really good copy, and dvd conversion is gr8...SasArchiver

  4. I have the pioneer 575a in my bedroom that is an excellent player.

    Downstairs I have a wireless av receiver so I stream the divx/xvid straight to the tv.

    That works well also
    If it's wet, drink it
