Is firewire all the same speed or are there upgrades or differneces. I ask because I'm upgrading my usb to usb2.0 and am not sure if i should get one with firewire or not. I already have a firewire connector on my PC, but could this be upgraded like the USB?

  2. Firewire is 400mbs opposed to USB2 480mbs. Firewire imho is the best going.

I have seen things about superfirewire (or something like that) which is 800mbs. I would get both a USB2 card and a firewire card. Everything nowadays has a USB2 connection and if you ever want to use external hard drives, cd or dvd drives or capturing then firewire is your man.

Ok thanx. I already have a firewire connection on this PC, so your saying that should be fine, just upgrade to USB2.0, is that right?

  5. I believe that if you look at Lacie's larger external harddrives these may use the new firewire speed but I think it may just take two firewire connections.
