  2. Well i got a 108.
Why did i get it.. Mmm mainly because my 105 is over worked and i needed a newer model. I've been happy with the 105 so the 108 is a logical progression. Not got passed 8x on it as i have no media that can be pushed to 12 or 16x.
Not seen a BenQ in any of the online stores i use.

  3. The Pioneer. No firsthand experience with either drive, but I'd choose the Pioneer based on my great experience with the 106/107. The Pioneer isn't the best 16x DVD-R burner, but it can write a SL disc in about 7 minutes. The 4x +RDL writing times are very impressive at this point in time. Fairly priced for the burn quality at less than $100 online.

    FWIW. Best of Luck,

What other DVD burner does 16X?
Electronic Mailbox is selling it for $189. Who has it for less than $100?

  5. Newegg, which most will agree is repitable, has the beige and black available for $97 and $98, respectively with 99 cent shipping. Check out Pricewatch if you want to save a couple more bucks. $190 is outrageous.
My comment simply implied that it's 16x writing speeds are slightly edged out by other burners. It's not a "poor" burner by any means.

Wow. EMB never has the lowest prices, but they're usually in the ballpark. They're selling the boxed version with Record Now, but still... Outrageous is the right word.

The 108 is the only dual layer I know of that is capable of 4X DL speed - if the discs ever come out!

Looks like some are not available JUST yet, but the BenQ and the Pioneer are out, NEC is coming shortly. From what I've seen, the NEC will be a faster SL than the Pioneer.

There's the list from the Writers section. Looks like they also added a spot so you can see who manufactures each drive.

    (Good work guys).

EDIT: Also add the Lite-On 1631S and 1633S (forthcoming).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Whoops! I guess I meant what other DL burners do DL@4X. I see an NEC and a Asus (made by Pioneer).
